Ulster Protestant Emigration to Lower Canada: Megantic County and St-Sylvestre.

Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia: Evans Books, 2003, 56 pages.

This publication describes conditions in Ulster which led to emigration in the 1815-1840 period, emigration patterns out of Ulster, settlement experiences and cultural transfer in Quebec. It uses seventeen Megantic County Ulster Protestant families as examples, but the conditions leading to emigration apply equally to all Ulster Protestant emigrants to Canada of the period. The publication is the expansion of an essay completed in connection with a Graduate Seminar in Irish and Scottish Emigration.
